personalised welcome message
I have a PM sent to new members upon joining - however at the moment I have to have it read Hello friend
My question is how do I have it that the members username appears in the automated PM - and automated birthday greeting PM?
I know it is something like { username } but when I did that it said username, not very proffesional looking lol!
I am sure this is an easy question so please forgive me.
Many Thanks

LMAO
you just write what ever message you want and hit save. that's the message your new members will receive.

Re: personalised welcome message
honestly i do not even know what you and Darren are talking about?
why would you need that code anywhere. you want to send a pm message to all new members right. a welcome message.
all you do is go to admin panel>general>messages and emails>private messages.
scroll down to (Allow welcome private message) and select enable.
now put in the subject/title
then write the message you want to send to all new members and hit save.
when a new member registers and is activated they will automatically receive the message. it has nothing to do with the code above.

Re: personalised welcome message
Yes I have done that, and yes the message goes to new members as they register.
The problem is the actual message itself I want it to be personalised so if a member called Angel joined for example the message would read
Welcome Angel.
Thank you for joining......
Instead of
Welcome Friend (which I have now)
Thank you for joining.....
Does that help kirk? thank you again

Re: personalised welcome message
where dose it say welcome friend if you do not put it in there?
i will have to look in the templates and see if this can be adjusted. if so it can only be done on phpbb2 or punnbb versions.

Re: personalised welcome message
ok go to ACP then go to General
then go down to * Private messages
scroll down to Welcome private message * :
then type in your messege as you would like it to be set out and then
where you would like to add the name of the member just add this code
Welcome Angel.
