Construction mode

We are currently still constructing our site so need it in construction mode. However, it keeps taking it's self out of that mode. We log off leaving it with the in construction message, but when we return it is not in construction mode. Why does this keep happening?

Because it is only for I day.I recommend you tu put it into Holiday Mode,But that does not have a message and no one can register.

Where does it say it is for only one day? And anyway it pops out in less than one day!!!

Thats the thing, it doesnt' say "is only for 24 hours", it just is set only for 24 hours, and you cannot change that defined number unfortunately

I also have to do some antainence on my forum,and the only way is the first second you go to your forums each day you go an put it in construction.

One day is far too short as no way can someone construct a forum in such a short space of time! Surely it should mention it somewhere???

Darren when you say it can not be changed, it can not be changed by us, but it CAN be changed by the powers that be. They obviously choose not to. It would be interesting to know their reasons.

So this brings me on to 'Holiday mode' How does that work then? Is that on a timer? What happens in holiday mode?

The construction mode is designed specifically for 24 hours, and would need to have alot of coding changes to last more than 24 hours.

Yes, the techies are the only ones who can do it, but I doubt that it would happen any time soon, unless it was suggested.
And then personally, I doubt it being made that you can change the time it's up for.

The 'holiday' Mode is a mode where no-one can register, make topics/replies and such, but already-registered users can log in and view the forum, and if according to the permissions, the guests can see it.

In summery: People can login, and view the forum, as opposite to 'Construction' mode where u cant log in and view the forum.

Okay Darren Thanks. I still find it odd that construction mode would only be set for one day! As stated before, it takes longer than one day to construct a forum. No matter, we are live now so it is not a problem. We went live this afternoon. It is good to know regarding holiday mode for future reference though.
