A infraction system idea

I've been looking around the boards if there was a system like this, but I found nothing. Soo, here is the question.


Can we have an infraction system?

Like, if somebody breaks a certain forum rule on your own forumotion forum, they could earn a warning, or an infraction.

If a certain member breaks a forum rule, then they earn a warning or an infraction. They will know if they have gotten an infraction of warning, because they will receive a PM saying they haved.


The PM could look like this:

Dear, (Users name)

You have received an infraction at (Name of the forum)

Reason:
--------
Put reason here)

(User who gave the infractions message) Example: Please stop flooding around the forums.

This infraction is worth (How many points) point(s) any result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire.

I've worked on a few forums and I think this is best coming from staff, if you don't want to send the pm's yourself, create a 'dummy' (fake) staff member account so you can log into that account and send the pms.

Set a section up for 'staff only' in your forum make sure members do not have access to that area and create a list of pm 'templates' for every eventuality, that you can simply copy & paste into a pm and send from the fake staff member account.


The staff section can be used for a multitude of things and you can also list the actions you take so you have a record, that way you will see at a glance who the troublemakers are.

Why can't there just be a button to do it automatically?

But wouldn't you still have to type out the different infractions anyway?

This has been suggested and denied sooooooooo many times...

Without a poll in the next 24 hours this suggestion will be garbage.

It's honestly garbage already Mario But seriously, it just sounds like a warning system with PMs.

Coming from a user who's been banned.

Although I can see that the idea has potential, I don't think that it's really necessary. One can just manually set up the warning level/bar system as an infraction system. Voted no.
