Can the "join date" format be altered?

Hi, I would really like it if under the post profile, the members join date simply displayed the month and year they register.

For example, currently it reads like this:
Join date: 2010-06-17

I would instead prefer it to look like this:
Join date: Jun 2009

Is there any way this can be altered?

My version is Invison.
