Portal Recent Topics Code? Empty Portal Recent Topics Code?

I would like to create a toolbar button for new posts, using the information that appears in Recent Topics on the portal. Is this possible?

The "view posts since last visit" doesn't always work.

Please, is there a way to create this toolbar link to new posts?
