phpbb3, to be or not to be?

Hello, everyone.

Days ago, we heard about the new phpbb3 utilization in forumotion.
I had a question:
What is the benefit of upgrading to version 3?
It seems to me that it is merely a theme, mimicking php3's UI, but I was unable to find any any new features of phpbb3.
Is this really phpbb3, or simply a theme??

Did you found anything new in version 3, to show me it's really phpbb3?

I just dont like the look of version 3

I dont like the search box on the index and then a second one shows up when you enter forums.

I don't like the look of the who is online box.

there are no skins, just different colors of the same one!

Hmm Kilsek, I take it you don't really like the new phpbb3..lol

One of my forums Nessa's Place I believe is in the newer version. It is different from my main forum The Realm But I like it, I think its kind of cool looking. but they do not have more themes available, just different colors. and thats ok to..I'm sure at some point they may add more themes to it..i hope..tehe. I really like the fact that it's different from my other forum.

there a few things i dont like on phbpp 3

the logo it always seem to go funny when you make the page smaller.

the lines in the index & posts, why on earth do they only go half way for? it just make it look silly

it's hard to find colours that go together on phpbb 3. well it's hard for me...lmao

i also dont like the who is online,

i dont like the search box there too i would like to see it back where it was normaly was.

i move back to phpbb 2 for the time being

It seems we're talking about a theme. Everyone is discussing the place and look of elements.
My question was: Is it really phpbb3, or just a fake theme?

Oh, my apologies Sana. Now I simply don't have an answer for you there, as to the technical side of it that is. But I'm sure some one with more knowledge of that aspect will be along shortly to better answer that question for you.
