go into admin, into forum tab, then fid the forum you want to lock in the list, click the orange modify cog, and you will see a bit under the name of the forum to change it from unlocked to locked.

wat u mean lock forum for maintenance ... ?

or lock forum and category

check this one

for lock ur forum u can using a Moderator menu
with LOCK icon
or go to ADMIN PANEL>FORUM> FORUM MANAGEMENT
choose forum u want to lock MODIFY
in FORUM STATUS, choose LOCK

for lock ur forum if u maintenance
go to ADMIN PANEL>GENERAL ADMIN>GENERAL> check list YES to FORUM CONSTRUCTION

Yu cant lock ur forum but you can Forum Construction which is wht i use
