Booking a domain name.
Is there any way to "protect" or make the form details private when filling out the domain booking form? Basically, can telephone, address, and other private info, on the form be hidden from whois?
Edit: I want to get the domain form completed, but we can't continue without filling very personal information.

Personal Information is not shared with any 3rd party. Forumotion doesn't like people sharing their personal info either.

Whois doesn't show that. Type any domain in whois and you don't see personal info.

Re: Booking a domain name.
I have a question about this as well.. The form to fill out says
Name :
First name :
Corporate body : Particular - Society - Association
Organization :
Address :
Zip code :
City :
Country :
Phone number :
Fax :
Email :
What am I suppose to put for "name" as it doesn't specify what "name" i am giving. It is my last name? the name of my forum? Also under corporate body & organization, what should I select? This is my first time going through this and I want to make sure I fill this out correctly.

Re: Booking a domain name.
ok and for organization i put "electronic network" thats the current name of my forum.Sanket wrote:Yes, thats the one you can choose.
I just submitted it. Now it says:
You will be warned as soon as it is activated (in a delay of about 5 workdays).
For security reasons, we advise you not to talk about your new domain name until we validate it.
and below that it says:
Domain name checkout: Regarding your forum activity, your domain name is offered by Forumotion.
It hasn't asked me what to pay, does this mean forumotion offered the domain to me for free?

So i think if it let you order, it means you got it for free.

If so, that is great news! I read somewhere when your forum is really active, you are granted with the gift of a free domain so maybe I got that.Sanket wrote:So i think if it let you order, it means you got it for free.
In any case I will post back here within the 5 business days it says i should be alerted.

So none of the information can be whoised? That's good to hear. Perhaps now the domain can be booked with ease.

Re: Booking a domain name.
Bump: We got a free domain offer but now it's gone since it vanished after this topic was resolved. Is there any way to get that free domain offer back or do we have to just stay active and aim for another chance at a free domain name?

Re: Booking a domain name.
Nopes, i think there is automated system which puts up that offer based on your activity points.
Ask your members to start posting loads for the next couple of days. Make sure you have a check on that section where you can buy the domain name.
