So, when did everybody's forum become popular and have much discussion on a daily basis??

How did you all spread the word, and promote your forum?

my forum has started to become really popular and is just over 2months old,

im lucky i had loadsa forums i go to already, so i just advertised my forum on them

lol my forum is 2 months old, but is busy partly because i had a forum before...also i fond sites like minded to mine and requested mutual newsletter advertising or paid for the pleasure. At the moment i have google adwords advertising, which is modified to fit keywords suiting my forum, and advertising on the top site that google finds for my main keywords, plus business cards from vistaprint.co.uk and car signs from a member i have

My simplist advice for the beginning of a forum's life:

- Start it with a cofounder if possible
- Get friends in (don't force the buggers )
- Publicise (where allowed)
- Pray (or any equivelance )

My forum is anything but popular, but it has the best members throughout the lands where ever you may look. I love those few members I have and I sure hope they love me too.

In my opinion, a popular forum is the result of hard work and sacrifice of the maker. You make it what it is, and you shall be rewarded what it's worth.

ooh actually i DONT recommend having a cofounder unless you know them REALLY well and i would even advise typing up a topic of agreement that you both agree to and put before your team of mods. I started off my first forum with a coowner, and everything went well, but she didnt like the fact that despite what i did to make us equal, members still would come to me, and in the end went behind my back, made her own forum and started to spam our members without me even realising. I wouldnt have another cofounder again now.

i really do not know if my forum has reached any level of "popularity"
i try to guage "activity" - but ever since its creation (over 3+years ago)
that has been my biggest challenge .. how to keep it active

I have more to spreads the words.
- Tell friends to tell their friends.
- Spam on an online games.
- Spam on Youtube
- Make images and put your forum address ( URL ) on it and upload on Photo bucket.

and about how my forum is popular Well not yet I have 14 but some are registered and they are not posting. And tried all from adds to traffic tools but no luck

I have a steady 31 members from the general public who post like mad! I get around 100-200 posts a day, but I can't wait until people start signing up equally as crazy!

as much has my forum is new its not so popular but then i would rather have less people that are going to post than have 400 people with only about 20 posting.

my forum was at its popularity when it was still new.

i advertise with free advertising sites (like google, etc) and i join other forums that let me advertise in them

I'm tring to have my school use the my forum as where the Writer's (a club) meet. But since it is a Private Christian school, they said: No one will like. Hence it's dying. I suggest putting on big search engines. But if you want a "clean" forum, pick and choose. Har Dy: My brother's forum is just like that. One meber, two Admins and the member hasn't visited. Advirtising is easy: Put in your signature. But check the rules first... My brother has done that on several forums. (not this one)

I can never make popular bored. I don't know if its me or if its the type of bored i have but i can never make any of my boreds that i make popular.
