Rule breaking advertisments Empty Rule breaking advertisments

Post by chiefpnut October 6th 2010, 5:22 pm

Hi,

Is it possible to have certain adds removed from a forum? We don't mind having adds for one, but some of them are encouraging rulebreaking... We've already set the adds only to be visible to guests, but one of our members pointed out that before logging in he could see them, and he wasn't in the least pleased.

Our forum is for use of a clan based in RuneScape (MMORPG), and some of the adds that get added are encouraging breaking RuneScape rules. We very much don't want to have it seem as if we, as a clan, do thesame thing.

Any tips?

Yes, ofcourse.

Our forum address is Rawr.All-Forum.net

The ad addresses we've seen so far are from:

So what do you mean by you feel the adds are encouraging members to break your forums rules? The links you have posted above seem to be things you have to buy. that's what most ad's are. Take http://secretvideogamecheats.com/?s=k5neiq6n1kq4pldmnfi114erm2 for instance.Sure they are a site that offer many game cheats but it also requires a membership of $9.99 a month.

So even if you think that some ad's may encourage a member to post copyrighted materials that you otherwise would have to pay for.It would be your responsibility to remove any content or materials that may be in violation and would have noting to do with a ad you may see before entering your forum.

If you can, explain more on exactly what you mean or post links/screen shots of particular ad's in question so we can determine if they would be in any violations or not?But the two links above would not be in any forumotion violations of ad's forumotion allow on their forums.

like if it is a add that can be offensive or pornographic in any way. then we nee to know what ad it is so it can be removed from forumotion altogether. it has been a long time since there was any such ad's like this and for the short time we did have a small problem with such ad's the matter was taken care of very quickly. forumotion would never allow any such adds to remain.

Also keep in mind if you wanted to have your forum totally ad free. then you can always pay to have all ad's removed.. other then that it would just have to be set to guest as you have it now.

Yes, we know about the pay-to-remove-adds option, I have posted about it on our forum.

The reason our members strongly dislike those ads, is this.

We're a community of people who play an online game called Runescape. Most of us have spent many years playing, either for free of for a monthly fee. Runescape has certain rules though, such as using botting programs to gain lvls, make money... Very much not allowed and if you do use them, you risk your account being permanently banned, etc. Same goes for cheats. Like said, most of us spent many years on our accounts and don't want to risk losing them or getting black marks for accidentally visiting those websites that offer things like this...

Having adds doesn't bother us in the least, having adds that encourage breaking these rules, such as adds that advertise cheats and bots for our game? Yeah, we seriously don't like that. If it were in any way possible to have just those specific ads no longer show up, it would be very very much appreciated.

So then your forum is a clan that all play the same game.If companies or sites have permissions or own the materials being offered for sale or subscriptions then it would be for an individual to decide if they wanted the service or not..

So yes it may be just a coincidence these ad's are showing up on your clans forum.. but the ad's them self are in no violation, so forumotion would not have to remove them unless it was in violation of their own policy.

But if you like you can pm typlo and ask him to reply again to this thread for you.But this seems like something for the only way to have the adds removed would be to pay for them..Other then that forumotion would not remove any ad's that are not in violation of forumotions policy
