Solved Adding "Pop-up" tabs

Post by Killer2270 April 15th 2011, 1:25 am

Problem: I have made the Pop-up and it works. However, I can't seem to figure out if I can add more tabs like that and how. Is there anyway to do this? I want it so I can add more things with tabs to save up space and make them available for all pages. Plus they are cool.

ADD: 66 views and no other posts? Is this usual or is it a slow day?

ADD2: Hello? anyone there?

ADD3: Here is the link to the guide that let me make the first tab: Mr. Mario's "Pop-Up" Chatbox

The code itself for the tab contains the code for the chatbox. But I can try, I'm not saying I'll figure it out though.

Yeah, I'm not too advanced in this code. I can't figure out some of these HTML functions...

I just need the code of the tab itself with the opening and closing and the windows themselves. I also need to know where I can insert any custom code.

what do you have poping up?

you can use this one, all you do is add the links where marked then you can change your dimensions as well.

Code:
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0px">
<table><tr><td onMouseover="this.bgColor='#000000FF'"onMouseout="this.bgColor=''"><a href="LINK HERE" style="text-decoration:none" target="popup1" title="" onclick="window.open(LINK HERE', 'popup85', 'width=415,height=320,height=320,left=200,top=275,scrollbars=no'); return false"> <span style="font-size: 10px; line-height: normal">TEXT OR HTML IMAGE LINK HERE </span></font></td></tr></table></a></td></tr></table>

The chatbox. It's from a guide posted by Mr. Mario in the Tips and Tricks section.
I'll try the code and see what I get.

Ok, that code isn't what I'm looking for. I'm just going to post the code I'm using and see what you can change to it.

Code:
<div id="chatbox_ret_cont" onmouseout="stopINT()" onclick="stopINT()" onmousever="stopINT()" style="border-top: 7px solid rgb(148, 11, 11); border-left: 7px solid rgb(148, 11, 11); z-index: 10000; -moz-border-radius: 20px 0pt 0pt 0pt; background-color: Black; position: fixed; bottom: 0pt; right: 0pt; border-color: #00FF33;"><div onclick="(document.getElementById('chatbox_ret').style.display=='block')?my_setcookie('chatbox_ret','0',0,0):my_setcookie('chatbox_ret','1',1,0); $('#chatbox_ret').toggle('normal');" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: 'trebuchet ms',serif; cursor: pointer; padding: 3px;"><span id="chatbox_ret_online" style="color: black);">Chat</span><span id="chatbox_ret_offline" style="color: black;">Box</span></div><iframe scrolling="no" frameborder="0" onload="if(cb_new) { cb_start(); cb_new=0; }" style="width: 740px; height: 400px; display: none;" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" name="chatbox_ret" id="chatbox_ret" src="/chatbox/chatbox.forum"></iframe></div>

Also, check the OP for link to the guide this code is based off of.

ADD: Hello? Mr. Mario please visit this topic! Your the one who wrote the guide, you should be able to help Evil or Very Mad

ADD2: Well I got good news and bad news. Good News is that I figured out that multiple tabs are possible. The bad news is that one "overlap" the other and the other one only shows when the first tab is open. Since however the tabs were for the same function, then that tab closes the window the other creates. So I have discovered new things, but I need Mr. Mario's help!

Solved Re: Adding "Pop-up" tabs

Post by kirk April 19th 2011, 1:55 am

I would need to see exactly what it is you want to do, it's not hard to have multiple tabs. you would just have to have them in separate tables with the pop-out code in each table.

the pop-out code i gave you is pretty much universal and can be used for many things, you just have to add the source link for what you want to pop up.

For instance, if it's the forums chat you want, then you would click on the join chat in your forums whose online section. and it would open with a full screen and the link would be in the address bar, then you simply add the link and adjust the dimensions how you see fit.

But i also have a few other pop-out codes that may be better for what your trying to do. i just need to know exactly what that is so i can set up and or help you achieve what it is your asking.

there are a lot of different ways to set stuff up like this.So i would need to see what it is you want to provide you with the best options on doing it.

and where are these pop-out codes going? because sometimes if you have to many tables or pop-out codes in one place it can mess other things up on the page..

here is an example of a multi pop-out tab thing i use for a music player i created.

http://www.forumsuccessors.com/h106-pop-out-example

as you can see it looks as if there is a lot going on in this code, but it's really all the same pop-out codes with different links and images added in separate tables.

i can create the tables and have it marked where the content would go, but once again i need to knish exactly what you want.. so any screen shots,info or links of something to use for example would help, with out that i would be just shooting in the dark... lol

info added
Well the code you are using is designated specifically for the forums chat box,
Now of course you can alter it and make just about anything work with it.
And i also noticed on my html page that it is sitting at the bottom right corner of the page, so i am not sure if thats supposed to be that way or not. Also there is no link provided for the chat box either.

Anyway here is another universal code.
you could a click-able image to this as well, you would just add it where i have text marked in the code.

Code:

<td onMouseover="this.bgColor='#D4E6F7'"'"onMouseout="this.bgColor=''"><a href="SOURCE LINK HERE" style="text-decoration:none" target="popup72" title="text" onclick="window.open('SOURCE LINK HERE', 'popup85', 'width=335,height=75,height=75,left=200,top=275,scrollbars=yes'); return false"><font face="Times New Roman"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: normal">TEXT OR CLICK-ABLE IMAGE HERE</span></font></td>

But i am not sure if this will help you because i am unsure of what it is you want to do with multi tabs?

my code where dint work? i know it works.. but ok i will check it out to see.
You may be better off just sending Mario a message and asking him.. or try rono he is the pop-out king... lol

info added

oh well i see why my code is not working for you. it's no way set up like the chat floating on the bottom like that..

Like Rideem3 said. in order to add multiple tabs like this with other pop-outs your going to have to construct different codes for the borders to mach up etc.

Thats a lil to much work, and the code was not initially set up to do this because it was designed only as one tab for a chat.

now you can always add more in some tables and have them in you overall footer.. but dont think it will really look right the way the border is set up on it.

I will test a few things. check back here in a bit.

and you still never said what else it is you want to pop-out like this?

Post by kirk April 19th 2011, 3:44 am

well here is what i mean by placing the popout codes in tables.

the code would go where the numbers are.

Code:

<html>
<head>
  <meta content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"
 http-equiv="content-type">
  <title></title>
</head>
<body
 style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"
 alink="#3333ff" link="#0000ff" vlink="#4499b8">
<table
 style="width: 1104px; height: 46px; text-align: left; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"
 border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
  <tbody>
    <tr>
      <td style="text-align: center; vertical-align: bottom;">1</td>
      <td style="text-align: center; vertical-align: bottom;">2</td>
      <td style="text-align: center; vertical-align: bottom;">3</td>
      <td style="text-align: center; vertical-align: bottom;">4</td>
      <td style="text-align: center; vertical-align: bottom;">5</td>
      <td style="text-align: center; vertical-align: bottom;">6</td>
    </tr>
  </tbody>
</table>
</body>
</html>

right then say these are all your tabs with what you want them to pop-out to, keep in mind you would have to adjust the dimensions for what you want.. i have the same video game in all of them as an example.

https://sd-1.archive-host.com/membres/up/137670929941788204/script/chatbox_v2.js

That script is for the french forum. Notice that your script is only the part which is appended to the body?
For other's information; the rest of the script parses the cookie, allowing the chatbox to stay open when changing pages.

As for your question:
You can duplicate the code, replace the iframe tag with whatever you want, and then add a margin-1ight rule into the CSS.

lol oh well i dint realize you was using phpbb3.

Mine is something that would have to be added to the overall footer template or html page.
As far as effecting your background i do not see how that is possible since you have no way to incorporate it to your forum.

where did you put the code? in your css?

In any case to fix that you can just remove the background-color rgb and link colors.
But once again this method is pretty much rendered useless for you unless you was to have it on a html page,homepage message or your home page announcement.

no align tags wont work.
you have to change left right or center in the code.

where it says
position: fixed; bottom: 0pt; right:

then you will have to change the border direction as well

border-left:

so position to left, and border direction to right should do it if you want it on the left side

yeah i did it in this one and works fine on my test forum set to phpbb3
Code:
 <div id="chatbox_ret_cont" onmouseout="stopINT()" onclick="stopINT()" onmousever="stopINT()" style="border-top: 7px solid rgb(148, 11, 11); border-right: 7px solid rgb(148, 11, 11); z-index: 10000; -moz-border-radius: 20px 0pt 0pt 0pt; background-color: Black; position: fixed; bottom: 0pt; left: 0pt; border-color: #00FF33;"><div onclick="(document.getElementById('chatbox_ret').style.display=='block')?my_setcookie('chatbox_ret','0',0,0):my_setcookie('chatbox_ret','1',1,0); $('#chatbox_ret').toggle('normal');" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: 'trebuchet ms',serif; cursor: pointer; padding: 3px;"><span id="chatbox_ret_online" style="color: black);">Chat</span><span id="chatbox_ret_offline" style="color: black;">Box</span></div><iframe scrolling="no" frameborder="0" onload="if(cb_new) { cb_start(); cb_new=0; }" style="width: 740px; height: 400px; display: none;" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" name="chatbox_ret" id="chatbox_ret" src="/chatbox/chatbox.forum"></iframe></div>

actually this is not even really a pop-out but more of a slide out.. but no need to be technical... LOL
