How to make a blog the homepage of the forum instead of the index Empty How to make a blog the homepage of the forum instead of the index

Post by dotdotdot September 25th 2011, 5:38 pm

    Hi there

I've created a blog on my forum and would like this to be the homepage of the forum. In other words, whenever someone visits my site, the blog would be the first page they see and not the forum index.

    Is this possible?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Smile
    Just guessing.
    Enable portal.
    Make portal default.
    Have one widget "News"
    With subject your "blog".

Thanks. I can do the first two steps, but how do I make a widget 'news' with the subject of my blog?

Really sorry but you're talking to someone who has few if any technical skills.

    Hi Smile
    News widget is already there.

Admin panel > Modules > Portal management > Structure >
Drag & drop news widget into portal.
Then edit news so it has desired forum/blog as feature.

    I haven't tried this myself.
But I think it is worth a try.

Make sure you have gone to
Admin panel > Display > Generalities
    Check
    Your forum redirects to :
The forum index The portal A HTML page

Yes! It works, it works, it works!

I just missed out the final step which was: modules --> portals and widget--> create new page --> yes

    Thank you!

But: one stupid question. Now that the 'blog page' is the homepage, how do I reach the forum index?

    Hi Smile
You should still have "Home" @ the top.

Plus the bottom of the page.

Your Portal is actually the default (not "Homepage")
