how to link

how do you link an image. I hope I am saying this correctly.
what I mean is if I post an emoticon and want to link it to a different topic
how would I go about doing this

when you click on the link icon in the message editor you put the code for the emoticon at the bottom and the link at the top and click OK ....if you click on the smiley at the top of this message it should go to the link

ok but what if I have it

click here then what do I do?

if you review your message before you send you will have the code ..copy the code and paste it into a message or do all the procedure in your own forum msg editor if your emoticon has a url link then use it instead of the forum code i used for the smiley here
