PANAMA CITY — About 40 people
gathered Saturday in A&M Theatre for the Occupy Panama City General
Assembly to share opinions about the direction the group should take.
While they were inside, a smaller group outside on Harrison Avenue protested the meeting.
While the General Assembly was going on, protestors gathered out
front who were against Occupy Panama City. At first, they said they
wanted to attend, but a friend could not get up the flight of stairs
because of his wheelchair. After the majority of the General Assembly
offered to carry the man upstairs, and then move their assembly closer
to the stairs after the man refused, yelling broke out.
“Stupid, liberal left wing nut rally,” shouted Karen Delaney. “How were people like him supposed to get up there?”
About 10 protestors stood at the bottom of A&M Theatre, taking
pictures of people going in and out, and calling for the General
Assembly to be held out in the streets. A police officer observed the
activities from across the street.
