Out of the blue one member of our forums can no longer login. Using his old username/pass resulted in the following error msg:
"You have specified an incorrect or inactive username, or an invalid password."

Everything seems to be in order in the Admin control panel.
I have issued a new Password (several times) and cannot log into his account?
It shows him as an active user and this just popped up a day or two ago and thus far only affects a single user.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I have the same problem too. It occasionally happens to some of my users and I give them a new password and they still can't login. I asked them to clear their browser cache and the problem still remains.

Can you please try deactivating him/her, then reactivating him/her and see what happens?

If nothing, please ask the user to clear their cache & cookies. If it continues to persist, then we can divulge into the issue further

I have just tried again to list as inactive and switch back to active. Cleared cache & cookies in safari and cannot login as said user. Any other ideas? Thank you.

Did you change the password using firefox? Then give him the password. See if that works.

Hi ya i had the same problem only 2 days a go but this was a staff member of mine

What i did was to change the password to something like test and then Resynchronize your forum : then when this is done the member could login to there account and change there password back to something they want.
I also found the member in the Inactive Users all i did was to tick the box and let them have there account. it may help to go in to the ACP and go to there profile right at the bottom of the page make sure there account is open there aswell.. i dont know why but i found 2 accounts blocked there but not in the Inactive Users settings

I have tried all the suggestions. I re-entered a "generic" password in FireFox and then tried both resynching the user and the forum. But when I try to login as the user I get the same message. I appreciate everyone's help but I'm still really at a loss and the user in question isn't that tech savvy so I really wanted to get this fixed for him without having him delete his account and setup a new one.

Did you try to login into his account with the new password?

Yessir, I of course tried the "new Password". This one is really driving me a bit batty. I've checked everything a zillion times and resynched etc. and nada! Willing to try any other suggestions to try to get this person's profile back.

Can you send me a admin account details, so i can check. I would also require the faulty account username.

make sure that they're unbanned, if you have't already checked... because something like that happeed to one of my members but, it was only because i accidently banned them...

Ok now this is getting ridiculous, the user who couldn't login with his old username now cannot login under his "new" username as well that I setup for him and was working two days ago. I am receiving the exact same error when I attempt to login as his "new" username. "No such member exists?" Please forumotion staff help me figure this out? I don't want to lose this forum member because the repeatedly cannot login? Help is greatly appreciated!

It seems that somehow the password keeps getting changed??? After setting the password on the user to "test1234" I was able to login again. I changed it back to the old password and it worked again. For how long who knows but this problem is really driving me nuts. Please continue to try and regain the first username I sent you guys.

Do you have other administrators that could be changing it?

I do but they have not changed any passwords. I only have two other admins whom I trust implicitly.

Well, can't really say what happened. THe Godfather had informed me that the problem had been resolved.
