New Member cannot register email addy
I have a member attempting to join my forum but they get the message "Email address is invalid"
Can anyone tell me why this is? I have checked that it is a valid addy.
Cheers,
Justin :-)

Re: New Member cannot register email addy
Are you positive that the email address is still being used and is spelled correctly with no errors?
Re: New Member cannot register email addy
Yes, I've just emailed the guy on the same address. I've also tried registering it myself for him

I am not sure, since you are saying the email id is correct. I don't see a reason, why it will give such a problem.

Hi,
Can you give me the end part of the email address?
Ex.
hotmail.com
live.com
hotmail.de
(custom domain name).com

Re: New Member cannot register email addy
Had another problem with a potential member not being able to register. Their email addy ended in celebrationballoons.biz.
Anyone any more ideas? Hate not being able to get a solution.

Re: New Member cannot register email addy
Yep, i can see a trend, business email addresses that finish in .co.uk or something else appear not to work.

So a solution for that is to get the user to register with another address, such as a hotmail one

Yeah,, i think this needs to be looked at by a tech.. private email accounts that end in .co.uk aren't allowed it seems

Re: New Member cannot register email addy
Just had another member try to register with a .biz email address, no go again I'm afraid.
I've checked inactive users and he's not in there.
Anyone any ideas?
Thank you,
Justin :-)

Re: New Member cannot register email addy
.biz address won't work.
Rest who all have used hotmail etc, must've been activated by you via the inactive users list. Ask them to sign in now.

Re: New Member cannot register email addy
HI
I am having the same problems. Even when I tried to register my own work addy it wouldn't work and I had to use my private one. It started with sales@ then ended in .com.au
Now I have another member trying to register with info@ and ending the same and she cannot get past the rego page with it stating invalid email address.
Any suggestions?
thanks
karon

Re: New Member cannot register email addy
HI all, I have figured that it is not a user ID problem, nor a password and from the other posts it appears that forumotion does not accept certain email addresses and rejects them. This has had a significant impact on our membership as many have given up in frustration not realizing this is the problem and think the forum is having technical problems. Perhaps a message should come up and state that the person should try a different email address or similar.
Can you tell me is there any reason why many business email addresses are rejected especially the ones starting with info, sales or the like? It just seems as though it is intermittently weeding out email addresses that really have no reason for such. Much of the spam that comes through are from hotmail, gmail etc accounts so this can't be it? What does it mean that an email address can't be verified? Just trying to understand this so I can give some sort of explanation to our members/prospective members
thanks
Karon

.co.uk addresses do work. I set up my forum using one over a year ago and several members have joined using them.
