Banning a member/ Finding IP

How do I find a user's IP so I can ban him? I am new to this admin stuff. Thank you!

You can look where that member posted and you will see a icon in the top right corner of his post( next to the quote,edit and delete button). Press it and it will show the IP from where that post was made. Then you can go in the admin panel and ban that IP.

Also,cant you ban a member from their profile?

Yes you can but not by IP. If you ban them from there profile(without entering the admin panel) you only ban there account not there IP.
