can I restrict the chat box to just one usergroup?

I would like my chatbox only to be available to a single group and not guest or anyone not in that group, is it possible. I would like it so that it isn't even viewable unless you are in that correct group

I am using it in a widget at the moment and cant work out what is needed from that link

I also have set up LGchat V3.0 I don't know if that is different or just sets up a button to access it.

just to make sure everyone understands what I want
I need it to be viewable from groupA and not accessable at all from groupB
normal members and gusts must not be able to see it as well

It is possible. Add the chat on the navagation bar and restrict it to to a group, don't display the chat, and edit the INDEX_BODY template so it doesn't show.

I have had a look at the bit on the nav bar and it only has admin, mods, members and guests, I want it set to a different group from those for instance chatusers which I have created myself

Hello,

Sorry its not possible to set permissions of the chatbox. If a user knows the url of the chatbox they will be able to access it even though the link is seen by admin's and mod's. If you really want to set permissions on a chatbox, create a chatbox by searching chatbox's.

Other then that there are a lot of different free and premium chats you can find to add to your site, So i would just Google it if you do not like any of the ones in the list above Smile

Adding a free chat is a bit silly really considering the forumotion chatbox is just fine, especially since your using my version with all the extra features.

Adding a free chat won't allow you to hide it from a certain usergroup... you can still only set the permissions relative to the widgets.

well i would just pass protect a tinychat if you want it only for staff.
There are a few options ways you can do things, But keep in mind, other then the xat they are all video chat rooms, You dont have use a cam, but you do have cam options Smile

I mean i would just use forumotion chat for forums they way they are, But not everyone likes forumotion chat box, so you have to dig around for something else to use.

So it comes down to what you like best and want to use.
