You mean the code for the recent topics? You have an option for this in the admin panel.Go to admin panel=>Modules=>Portal & Calendar=>Configuration and look for this option "Recent topics options" and chosoe the option you want from there. When you are done go to admin panel=>Modules=>Portal & Calendar=>Portal structure and in the "Addition of existing modules" menu look for the "Recent topics" option.

the lower the amount, the slower it scrolls.

It all depends, there are tons of scrolling codes. They can go in all directions, different speeds, and different uses. There are certain codes for scrolling pictures only. Just go with the ones obve since its been solved already.
