Brand NEW Memebers getting name already taken

New problem for today.

Just opened forum yesterday and have had members registering already.

they are all getting a meesage that name has been taken.
is impossible as new forum, new names, no former users.
any ideas how to fix or is it a silly glitch of some kind

That should help. But, Remember changing this setting can open a gateway for spambots to register on your forum.
