In progress How to make a custom RSS feed?

Post by becomeelite Thu Nov 29 2012, 21:35

So my forum/website is www.informationkeptquiet.com/forum

If i type in www.informationkeptquiet.com/rss it brings up a rss page for all the posts going on in my forum. So ive been using that link as a RSS feed and adding it to my chat groups in various messengers, the problem is that this RSS feed posts EVERY SINGLE post someone makes in any portion of the public forum.

What i would like, is to create a RSS feed for just my Video Archive section (http://www.informationkeptquiet.com/f28-video-archive). I tried using that link in my rss bot in my messenger group but nothing is posted when posts are made in Video Archive...only the www.informationkeptquiet.com/rss is working as a valid rss link.

So my question:

How can i create a link that i can use as a RSS feed, that will only post the posts made under Video Archive section of my forum?

So if i post a new video in archive, the rss feed sends out the rss on it. ONLY posts in video archive..no posts from other parts of forum

(basically i want the same thing as www.informationkeptquiet.com/rss ...except only for topics posted in Video Archive)

thanks in advance!

Try creating a sub-forum under Video archives and post it there, see if it'll stick there only Wink

Or try creating an HTML page which you can just update every time or create a hidden forum with it by hiding the main forum in the main index or a specified table or category to your liking so that you may see to it that the members can check up on it most of the time and if you don't want the main page involve, just create a new board or a table for the said topics to be posted and updates Smile

http://informationkeptquiet.com/feed/?f=28
The only single thread is displayed. For sub forums, you will need to add that specific sub forum # in that link above.

ahhh okay...im starting to get it.

What do you mean about adding the specific forum sub number to that link though?

can i combine ?f=28 with ?=29 in the same link, is that what you mean?

what would that look like? http://informationkeptquiet.com/feed/?f=28/feed/?f=29?

Because when you go to Video Archive, i have all those sections/subforums and i want all of those to be included in 1 single rss feed link
