IP Address

I would also like to know how to check the IP of the users, because I think there is a guy with 2 accounts, but i cannot be sure without seing the IP...I would be very grateful to be told....

Thats one way or go to the persons profile see if there is any other posts from the person and at the corner it will have a ip address.

Also, if you go to a thread where they have posted next to the quote and edit there are some icons, one is a triangle with a question mark. Click on that and you can see the ip of where they posted that comment from, along with that there is a section that will show you all users who have posted from that ip address.

And now you have said it twice and I still can't find an IP based on what you said. The profile page doesn't have an IP on it, click on the link to view posts by that user and you still don't see an IP address, just a list of posts. Click on one of those posts and you still don't see an IP address. I'm not sure where you are seeing this IP address from what you said, but I sure can't see it, maybe you should be more explicit.

You still can't see the IP from the post, unless you have some setting set that I don't know about. Thanks for warning me about reporting my post. Although I'm not sure I did anything wrong, I simply asked you to be more explicit. Usually when people ask questions the more specific you can be the better so they can understand it more easily.

I Have a Problem with a Hacker on My Forum (which of course isn't good) and I would like to find his IP-address and Block it

(he hacked one of my members account)

How do I find his IP-address and ban it?

If he posted a message on your forum you can click the "IP" button and it will display that members IP address. Then you can go to admin panel=>Users & Groups=>Users=>Ban control and in the "Ban one or more IP addresses or hostnames" you can add the IP you want to ban.

the problem is that he hasn't posted anything, but he has read some of the topics, and since he's an enemy in an online game this is really bad...

(the game is www.travian.dk)

If he hasn't posted anything the only way to find him is if you know he is logged in. If you see him logged in then you can go to the admin panel->misc->board statistics and at the bottom you will see everybody that is looking at your site with their ip addresses and what part of the forum there are in at the moment.

isn't there a log of which IP's that has been logged in the last week or 3 days or so?

Why wouldn't it work? You just wait for him to log on, then go to that statistics page and you will see his IP. Then you can go ban that IP. Another question, did he change the email address on the account too? If not the original member could click on the forgot password and type in the username and email and have the password sent to them. Then they could log in and change the password to something the hacker wouldn't know. However, I'm guessing he was smart enough to change the email address, unless you have it set up so that members can't change their email addresses.

But the hacker seems to be both smart and stupid.. i think i would have changed the email myself, but he hasn't

anyway, i don't think i would like for the hacker to have the possibility to log on again.. a lot of information is not for his eyes

Okay, so do you know what to do to stop him now? I'm not sure if this has been resolved or not. You should be able to get his ip next time he logs in and ban that ip address. Then I would have the original member click on the forgot password thing and get the password and then they can go change it back to something they can use. Anyway, I hope you get it solved.

Thats good to hear. Hopefully he won't get back on your site, the hacker I mean.
