Email Verification - Admin Verification - Your Only Choice. Empty Email Verification - Admin Verification - Your Only Choice.

Is there some reason for this? Aside from it may help cut down on spam bots (but shouldn't that decision be left to the admin of the forum?). Mainly on forums that have no one around to moderate and have been abandoned?

This also cuts down on "real" members too. Most are too lazy to register, then making them jump through the extra hoops is pushing it.

Now, I've found a couple of topics here on this already, and none of them answered the question directly. Only the "options" one has to contend with. Now that I understand my options as they currently exists, I'll ask the question: Do you have any plans of ever enabling member self-activation on the user created forums in which you host?

This can also be a security issue. I mean if for example such an option will become available, an option that every new registered member can log in right away and no need for e-mail confirmation, anyone can register with someone else's e-mail address. I mean then all you would have to do is register with any e-mail address that comes throw your mind, but since the option to confirm is available you can be sure that whoever registers on your forum is also the owner of the e-mail address he/she used to register.

those are the only choices, though it has been suggested as a feature. Personally its never one i would be daft enough to use, i have seen many forums swamped down with porn spammers, up to 20-30 registrations and hundreds of spam posts...however i am all for letting people have the option...i just hope they dont use it! Very Happy

i think it is good for new forum. There are no post at all and any comes and verification... all this he will not like.

He should be allowed to take off that time only. I personally belive this should also be included.

I understand full well the potential "risks", and what the feature is intended to do. I'm no stranger to running very successful forums, and building communities. I've recently started a new project and this is the first forum host I've used to not allow Admins the ability to deactivate user email verification. That being said, I LOVE the other 99% of your layout and easy ACP tools. But it's that 1% that is a very big deal to me.

So, I'm still looking for a direct answer to my OP. I understand this will probably need to be answered by the "boss". But it is a question I'd like to have answered before I spend any further time, or invest my $.

Thanks for your opinions on why you wouldn't use it yourself, but I'm quite sure I don't share 100% of your feelings on it vs. the benfit+ease of use to my community members or new registrants.

Maybe I can bribe someone with access to install the feature just for me? I'm not even kidding about that.. Twisted Evil

it will only be installed by technicians if if can be done and enough people have voted for it. There is no time scale given for mod installation either. As it has already been suggested there is nothing more to be done but add your support to the suggestion thread and hope the technicians will implement it Smile
