IP Address

Where can I see the IP address of an user (I'm an admin)...

I need this info as fast as you can...

Are they on the site or did they leave a message? If they are on the site right now go to admin panel->misc->board statistics If they aren't on, but left a post, just find that post and there is a triangle with a question mark in the middle, click on that and it will show you the ip the post came from.

thanks for that... But I need this because I doubt that 1 user is registering over and over... But he uses just his account... How can I check the IP from an offline user? The users doesn't have any posted messages!

If they haven't posted a message and they are offline you can't check it. If you are worried about somebody using multiple users once they start posting you can find out. The screen that shows the ip address for a certain post is pretty useful for this, it will tell you the ip address for that post, everybody who has posted from that ip address, and any ip address that user has posted from. Just go to any of your current posts and click on it, you will see how helpful the information can be. All you can do now is wait for them to log on, or to post. If they never post, keep track somewhere the ip address they log in from and watch for others using the same one. It could be a company though, just so you know. I have a few people here at work that are on my forum and we all use the same ip address, so be aware that that could happen.

is it possible to find whee they live? because I used to get this map and now I cant find it..

Some IPs don't report that information, so the map doesn't show up since it doesn't know where they are at. Especially some of the bots from the search engines, you usually won't see the location their IPs are coming from.

I would like also to thank you sir.. we also having a problem from a user who we think spying us!

you can see an ip adress of a member by going on there profile or if that doesnt work you can go on one of there posts and click on view ip adress of member.

Yes, you do that.

But I hope you know that the email-adresses can give you some hints. Spammers usually have names you can't pronounce and use mainly hosts without a gatcha^^

You can get it, if they are a registered member, and you can be there when they are actually online. You can find it in your Admin Panel, on the home tab, listed in the Who's Online list.

Okay I have three guys that registered as FBI, CIA, and KGB or something ... and they like messed up my polls, they all voted so that it made everything a tie lol (it was a poll where you can choose more than one) and it's pretty annoying. And I know this, because there's only one poll so far, so obviously it's them. And I read how to find the IP addresses on here, and I tested it out (everyone else on my forum is people I know IRL) and some of their IP addresses leads into another part of the country. So are the IP addresses always accurate?

Yes, the IP address is accurate; however, depending on where the person's ISP finally broadcasts their signal is where it will show up. For example, my ISP through work shows us as being in California, when we are actually in Utah. That is the point where we are actually on the Internet, so their IP address isn't always where they live, but it is where they make contact to the Internet, unless they are doing some re-routing, but unless somebody is trying to hide that probably isn't the case.
