Users registered while Forum was "on holiday"

The administration panel says that while we are set to "on holiday", users are not supposed to be able to register. But somehow, there is a new user listed as the newest registered user, having registered on Saturday, which is well after we went on holiday.

maybe registeration is not prohibited, but he won't be able to logon until the forum gets back to work

or their account didnt or never got activated from signing up before you set the "on holoday" i got a couple people that seem to wait a couple days to activate their account, that could be why

Well, logging on isn't stopped. Anyone can log on... you can even send and receive PMs. But I still don't get why someone could register when it specifically says in the Admin Panel that the setting stops user registrations. Any "official" word on the subject?

My thought was that maybe they registered before we shut down, but then they didn't "confirm" the registration (you know through the link in the email) until after the shut down, but I think I remember seeing that the "newest registration" thing doesn't wait until after the confirmation.
