Topics only 990 posts long before splitting.

Exactly what the title says.
On my forum we do roleplay which is important to two of the members.
The problem is that when the topics get 77 pages it splits into two topics, taking ten pages of the original one to a new one. The posts stop at 990 and it's taking up unecessary space on the categories; we can't delete them as we need them to look back on.

Is there anyway I could do it so they are all one topic,,, one long topic...?

The answer is no as far as i am aware, the question has been asked before and there is no way to change this at the moment. You can suggest it if you wish in the suggestions for your forums section, as long as it hasnt been suggested before.
