Can someone tell me what a default avatar is?

I cant find an answer suitable.

A default avatar is shown when a new member logs on and doesn't have its own one uploaded yet. its a first avatar... before you upload your actual one

go to admin panel-> styles ->defined avatars and upload the url link to your default avatar

Admin panel->styles->avatars->defined avatars->Then place a link or upload the avatar.
