VIEWING HIDDEN FORUMS

Quite often I can look on the [ View the whole list ] list . And I see guests viewing hidden forums . Forums that not even members should be able to see .

Example Kirachi .



There are other hidden forums this happens with as well .

I can almost understand if bots have access . But even those I wish they could not see then .

What is the explanation for guests viewing hidden forums ?

When you go to forum permissions (I am sure you know how to do this as a long Forumotion user), you will find basic control of access and advanced.



And then you can check and uncheck what you want:

I don't see Forum Permissions Control . But I am sure it is already marked .

The example above is a hidden forum . You cannot see it . A guest cannot see it . It will not even appear in any search .

So how is it that a guest is viewing it ?

Okay so I found it .



I have dozens of hidden forums . You are saying that some how even if the forum is not visible to guest or members . Not searchable . Not findable .

They can still view it ?

How is this possible ?

When I log in as a guest . I cannot view it , find it or search it .

Like I said I have dozens of hidden forums . THEY ARE HIDDEN IN THE GARBAGE LIST . You yourself will not be able to view them .

I am not about to go through my garbage list and and check the permissions for each one . They should not be visible .

In this picture, you can clearly see that for guests (first row) it is selected for them to view, read, reply and write which should be unchecked. Also go to advanced mode and check all options for guests and uncheck everything.

I can't locate Kirachi. I used Ctrl+F to find it and can't locate which means it is hidden.

I also reported this issue some months ago, and the technical team replied this:

If guests are looking at those pages, they will only see the login boxes. It could be search engine bots.

Yes . I thought that it may be bots . They probably have access to all . Which really sucks .

@azwiz don't worry, search engines and bots will not access the sections they are not allowed to. They will simply see the login page

Sometimes the URL to those pages can be found somewhere on the forum, but they are not accessible don't worry
