Coding Question

I am working on creating a forum for a game that I play. I wish to create something like a push button where for example a person clicks on the bold push button and the bold bbcodes pop up with a person just having to type in the text they wish to be bolded.

I wish to create a similar type of push down button (actually 3 of them: namely player, village, tribe). When click on the player button, a person just has to type the player name in between the bb code (for example HUNSS). Same goes for tribe. Only difference is village, where the person has to enter numbers in this format (###|###).
