New registration problem Empty New registration problem

Post by Saurus July 1st 2008, 3:26 pm

My forum is really just a testbed to decide if I want to go to a self-hosted phpBB board. During the last 2 days I've had 5 members of my regular forum register to see how phpBB looks and works. The strange thing is I've gotten the email notifications, but when I click to go to the forum to adjust their membership, I get an error message "sorry - this user does not exist.", and looking at their profile, for last visit it says "never." However, if I go to groups administration, I can add their names to a private group.

I'm totally puzzled. Anyone have an answer what's going on?

He/she was being sarcastic. That is obviously what he/she was firstly trying to do.

I don't think so. If he even read my question he would have seen that I CAN access the new users and add them to groups - so I know they are there. My question was WHY phpBB was showing them that way.

Well - I'm still having this problem. 3 more users, and the members list and profiles both say "never" for last visit. Doesn't anyone have any ideas what this is all about?

If you click on the link in the notification email before actually having this member activated properly, this error message will be displayed. The "never" just indicates that this person has not logged into his account yet.

What do you mean by "activated properly", Sunny? Activating the email link? I was told that was done, so I don't know what the story is.

I really don't get the "never" business if they are online and reading the boards. They are THERE, right?

I hope these things aren't features of the self hosted version of phpBB2. If they are I will have to think this over a bit more.
