How do I change the width of forum
I have just activated the widgets, but the forum width is too wide, and you have to scroll across to the right to see the scrolling list of latest topics. How do I change it?

Re: How do I change the width of forum
You can adjust the size of the forum in the admin panel
Admin Panel\General\Configuration
its the first link
You should see an area called structure
Change forum width to change the size of the forum

Re: How do I change the width of forum
It is at 98% at the moment, I did change that earlier, but ended up with a large margin on the left hand side.
Re: How do I change the width of forum
You will do, it shrinks the forum width and the margin you see on either side will be the background. The widget when activated will also fill space.
I have mine currently set to 80% with the sidebar widget set to 196px
This gives the forum room and the widget plenty of room to

Re: How do I change the width of forum
thanks, I changed the sidebar widget and other settings as above, but mine still doesnt fit all on one page like this website does.
Re: How do I change the width of forum
Your page looks good on my screen so obviously its set for a wider screen
Have you reduced the forum width
Admin Panel\General\Configuration\structure
Remember to select save after changing the width percentage

Re: How do I change the width of forum
I did click save, and I have a 19" screen, but I dont usually view full size. Someone has already complained that they dont like the scrolling topics down the right hand side as they find it off putting, but others like it. Guess you cant please them all. Thanks for your help.
Re: How do I change the width of forum
Hmmmmm no you cant
If you have reduced the width from 98% to maybe 90% or less and it's still too big i'm not sure what advice would work
Maybe taking off the sidebar and trying to reduce the width again to see if that makes the difference.
You can add the sidebar features to the portal so ever member can see the details there instead of on the forum, You can also swicth the scrolling feature off
Portal
Admin Panel\Modules\Portal Management\Structure
Sidebar scrolling
Admin Panel\Modules\Forum Widget Management\Recent Topics\Activate the recent topics scrolling : No
This will only then show the number of recent topics you state, 10 , 20 or however many without the scroll feature

Re: How do I change the width of forum
This depends entirely on the resolution each user has his/her monitor set to. I have a 22" monitor set to 1024x768 resolution and your forum displays perfectly, with no side scrolling required.
The only way you can be absolutely sure your forum or any other website will display full screen without scrolling is to use a fluid template set to a percentage of the viewers resolution. I don't use widgets myself, but I'm getting the idea from other posts that widgets are set to a specific pixel width. If so, that will be a problem for a fluid layout. If you can set widget width to a percentage - that would work.
I honestly don't know if Forumotion gives you access to the page CSS you'd need to do that. maybe a tech or Mod would know. If you really would like to research it, just Google for "CSS+fluid layout"

Re: How do I change the width of forum
Thanks, that sounds a bit complicated. Most members dont like the scrolling topics, although I think they are useful, so I will see how it goes for the moment.
thanks for all your help guys.
