Html and script question

i was given a code to use to make cool buttons where you click the picture to access the links but problem is is the picture comes up but the html link aint its still there so im getting the pisture with a whole heap of writing beside it. Any ideas on what im doing wrong ? and how do i turn html on in post please. i have looked everywhere for this and cannot see it. thank you in advance.

If you want to turn html in posts its in general > config i tihnk, but it allows all users to post html and this is a securty risk
