I have decided to cancel the gallery facility on my forum as it's taking up too much space and forum members are linking to other programs instead. Although I have disabled it, I'm not sure if it's deleted the pictures that were left in it. If it hasn't, how can I do this?

acp-modules-gallery-gallery management

or personal albums

Delete whatever you don't want. Just make sure the root gallery is still available, that is where all your buttons and forum use images are.
