IP address
Is there a way to see a member's IP address without them being logged in?

Re: IP address
As Kilsek has said, only if they posted a message on the forum somewhere. Find the message and click on the IP/Get Info button on the post.

The author wants to know how to view the IP address of members when they are not logged in.knighteleven wrote:Actually you can...

Re: IP address
Thanks.
I'd wish there was an option where it would log the IP when a new user registers.
I like to check to see if their location info matches up with their IP address.

I agree entirely. This would be a very useful tool! If not available at present, is it something that could be added?

Re: IP address
Even if it was added, there are ways to hide and change your IP address, so i don't think it would be useful really.
Re: IP address
Certainly, it is possible to use a proxy to hide an originating address but, in my experience, people only do this after they have been causing trouble and found out! If they ae prevented from gaining access in the first place only dtermined troublemakers are likely to persisit.

Yes but how would you know who are troublemarkers or not.

on my sites, before i enable their membership, i check their IP if its proxy. i dont allow the membership, if its not i allow membership. that may seem mean. but I dont want proxy servers to know my site. and 9 times out of 10 its a troublemaker proxying

Re: IP address
But if they use a really good proxy you wouldn't be able to tell the different, plus some people use proxy for alot of different things not just so they can cause trouble, on firefox u can add a proxy, so alot of people do.
