You can't its as simple as that forumotion will not allow you access to your database.

You do not have access to the database of your forum. All databases are located on extremely secure servers that Forumotion own.

And no, Forumotion will not allow you to do such a thing.

Tripp, I recognise your name from around the place.

Out of curiosity, which forum is it you're trying to backup?

We'd like to grab Perth Lair and take it somewhere else, but it seems the data might be held hostage.

Someone should invent a scraping tool for phpBB...

For the safety of Forumotion and its servers.

The only thing you can take with you is your custom domain name if you paid for it. Everything else remains with Forumotion.

So, if , in the future, I have my own server and my own domain name, can' t I transfer my forum to my server in order to manage the safety and access of my forum?

Forumotion likes being a bully. They don't want to see you progress on your own with access to your forums database, which clearly YOU the user have worked on and added content to.
It's like saying "U leave us, we'll make sure u get screwed up the a**"

Backing up forum to my hard drive Redface Backing up forum to my hard drive Redface Mate if ur going to do this please go away, its a nonsence and annoying!!

Forumotion doesn't want us to access our bit of the server to protect the server from being broken into, and to allow us to allow us to have an undamaged "backup" date on the server, basically their protecting us and themselvs form being damaged in any way, form, ir shape.

If you want more info, i surgest you talk to canceo(pm disabled) typlo(who is vary busy right now) or cailhem(pm disabled and on holidays till the 11th) so basically...just wait they will answer questions when they get a few spare minutes, in which they would want to spen with their families! I love you
