How do I make an image have no background?

Whenever I try to upload an image to my site, (and I use paint) I save it and upload it, and theres a white background. On this site, I can see the solved icon but that fits in perfectly. The warn bar does too. How do I make it blend in with the background, without making it have the same color as the background it's being placed on?

Thats a VERY simple process... get Paint Shop Pro.. from Jasc Software, if you use Paint, it supplies a Rubbish service which is why we get it given to us for free with Windows..

hmmmm, images with transparent background.

i believe all you have to do is save it in PNG format.

then it would be transparent, if it did have a transparent BG.

try to get gimp its free and it can do what your asking and its got a help file on it aswell
