Ok lets update the FAQ and Tips and Tricks

Ok time for everyone to pitch in and give back to forumotion. We need to update some tutorials around here and they are:

1) How to set Maximum Avatar Size?-Kilsek-sent to Caihlem
2) How to add a forum banner?-Kilsek-sent to Caihlem
3) How to make forums & categories-Kilsek-sent to Caihlem
4) How to make tables in a post-Kilsek
5) Colors and Fonts for your Forum
6) Cascading Stylesheets (CSS)

Sanket is doing the following:

1) How to make the navigation bar without the text, just buttons.
2) How to turn your html on in the posts.
3) How to activate the users manually.
4) How to ban a user, or delete a user
5) How to mail all the users in a single go? ( This is basically the Newsletter Option)
6) How to create ranks, which automatically change with the # of posts.


Therre could be more made, if you have sggestions post them!

Tips on creating tutorials:

Screen shots make it easier to member to understand, USE THEM!
In depth text description
Spelling is a plus-use proper grammar
English only

Thanks Kilsek for making the thread. So are we posting the tutorials in this thread itself? Or we are just letting everyone know, what tutorial a person is making so that its not repeated?

I am going to make tutorials which would address simpler questions.
Tutorials i will be making:

Well we used to post them but now we send them to Caihlem.

I guess just create them in notepad and them pm them to him.

Suggestion for the listing.

Have only 1 listing rather than two, its totally confuseing and things arnt placed where it is easily gathered.

I just send off the avatar tutorial to caihelm. I will pm him again about this topic

Ok I have sent in three of them to Caihlem

well the staff did make a giant update a few months ago to the tutorials...
we removed all the non existant tuts, and slowly started replacing them... and them we kinda stopped.

I would love to make some if I could think of some/look for the ones that need to be updated. If anyone wants to help me please reply here. SInce my PM BOX is disabled till Jan 1st.

@Mr. Mario: Take a look around the forums where you see many of the same topics asking for help. Find one that you know the answer to and write the tutorial.

How about one for bversion 3 fixing the width of the spot where the no new, new and locked posts appear on the index. Sometimes the image overlap with the forum description.

I'm doing a top ten CSS tweak list which will cover displaying your forum correctly in IE and Firefox and also how to create a complete forum drop shadow

Just PM your requests and the 10 most requested will be made into a CSS tuts

hmm, i did have some knowledge on forum tweaking. but since you guys got full hand there i will stay back & waiting for new brand of tutorial

I had been using the Complete 360 degree dropshadow on my test forum on and off since September

However i will continue the CSS tweaks

I started a CSS tutorial a while ago... i got quite far... but then i discovered that I covered about 3% of the css in about 4 posts...
Then I kinda looked a bit forward and saw that a CSS tutorial would be giant ... and it would be a written essay of the learning I've been doing for years...

But maybe I could squeeze it to the basics

kilsek, would i be able to do something for the admin panel, considering there isnt evan a link there, so there most likely isnt anything here on the forum.

But I have a question for the staff. I can make a Video and have it written for those people that have Dial-up?

lol, the PM boxes are traveling a little slow right now anyways, so i understand it.
