Is there any way to give a mod just powers in one section?

Admin Panel>General>Categories and Forums
Click on any forum name where you want to give the moderator the power
Click on permissions tab, Then in advanced mode check the options for the moderators, whether he is allowed to make sticky, announcement, moderate.

Hope this helps.

The procedure i mentioned above, gives them mod powers for the forum name you clicked. Other forums, you can follow the same procedure & uncheck the moderate option.

You can also modify the forums that a Mod has powers in by going to Users and groups> search Users> find the user name and click on permissions.
you will see all the forums listed.
if you want that member to moderate in a forum click "is Moderator" under the Moderator status tab.
