Re: unwanted ads
Im sorry for the double post here but i really must protest about this, have you any idea what these ads are doing to people's posts.
here's an example of a post i have on my forum.
One of my members have just lost her dad to Cancer, and she has put a post on the forum to an appeals page to raise awareness for the disease. With hope that the charity can raise some funds for this very worth while appeal.
Because of these ads now, this is what has happened, and talk about upsetting.
The ads have pick up the word memory as in "in memory of my dad" and its trying to sell memory sticks or something.
Talk about insensitive

Re: unwanted ads
I totally agree, if this is forumotion's idea then they obviously didnt think it through.
Would be a lot of hassle to switch forum providers but if this carries on will have no choice.

Re: unwanted ads
I have been with forumotion now for sometime, even before any ads, then ads appeared on the top of the forum, which you get used to, but this latest thing is a different level, this is very aggressive advertising, which you usually only find on the lowest of website's and forums.
Its a real shame is this is forumotions idea, and it is here to stay, as it really pulls the forums down below the average for guest browsing the pages.
You have to draw the line somewhere between making a bit of money and ruining it for everybody's forum.

Re: unwanted ads
Think ive solved it, go to administration panel, click on general, then configuration then where it says "Text ads activation (underlined)" make sure the no box is selected. It worked for me, good luck.
