Need favicon help

After reading the help from this guide https://help.forumotion.com/frequently-asked-questions-f5/favicons-t3345.htm
I have been left completely stumped on how to add my favicon. Apparently it shows up for my firefox users but not for users like me who use Internet explorer. I've saved my favicon under .ico but my panel wants a hosted file for me to add it. However I have no clue where to upload this file as I have tried many sites that tell me that .ico is not allowed to be uploaded.
What do I do?

Hey pogosheep, You don't need a .ico image to use as your favicon. You can just add any pic URL to use as your favicon. It just comes out small. It worked for me. Wink

I know I do, for testing purpose as im usually on firefox.

It should come up with something like:
Version: 6.0.2900.2180~~.xpsp_sp3_gfe.080814-1242~~

you do not have to worry about the bit i have crossed out, it is of no significance to us at the moment.

its not neccessary that u use an .ico extension image only for a fav icon. You can use any image for it.

Hello.

My favicon doesn't appear - the default one is in its place.
I saved my favicon as .png and uploaded it using the image hosting website photobucket.
Am I using the wrong image hoster?
Did I save it as the wring format?

I believe that a .PNG format is perfectly fine to use; did you use the shortest URL (may be known as the "Direct URL") possible??

Your favicon must be in size 24x24 so it will appear on your firefox browser.
Not only .ico can be favicon also the file .jpg , .png , and .gif .
