The Attacking Hackers!!

Okay well here it goes I was on my friends Forum one day and all the sudden this person called Agent Dee was on (forum has a chat box) and so i did a little chatting and when the admin came on the person went crazy There's two incredible hackers called Agent Dee and WickedPanther They threatened to hack His Site and mine steal all our members data and log then onto their site their site is unknown right now but they call themself team rocket I'm really scared this morning i came on and my friend claimed i was on 4 hours ago (which i was sleeping) so they must have hacked into my account these people you cannot underestimate we've IP banned chat box banned account deleted everything they just come back I don't know what to do i fear for my forum and my friends forum its a madness going on and whats even worse is they know my name age location everything! they been spying for a while now planning their attack and I'm super worried they know a lot about us and i need help and please don't say ban them we already did that >.< they are impossible to stop and i thought i will warn everyone they will probably hack my computer one day please help me!!!

You can go ahead and look up their ip address and Ip ban them, what i did to n00bs.

and one holds a grudge on him too plus they had like 3 monthes to prepare

Keep banning their IP. Also set 'New accounts activation' to Admin. That way only the Admin can approve new users.

Have you set your forum so that only members can post?

no....

Its better to make it that way since they come on without an account.

Things you should try:

Using the "ban control" feature under the users & groups section in the Administration Panel. This is where you ban your IP addresses at.

Two ways they can keep getting back on even though they are IP banned:
They use a proxy server or they are hooked up to a wireless network with a dynamic IP and not a static.

Continue to IP ban them, but you may want to try looking up major proxy IP address lists and banning those.

As mentioned, make it so an admin has to approve of new members (Even if temporarily), and to make it so you must be a registered user to have interaction with the forum. (Possibly reading topics even) This can all be temporarily until the two nuisances go away.

As far as the password, by all means make sure it is complex and has NUMBERS in it. There is ways on the internet to crack passwords easily if it is letters only.

The only way they can get your pass is with a good pass cracker. And forumotion has good security. Chances are extremely slim.

You should try keeping your forums on back-up, and keep the recovery utlities on tab. For worst case scenario.

is this real? why not they hack forumotion board? forumotion have even more user. any way, they wont get to hack into your database, because you dont have the database u owned from your forumotion board. if they were to hack, formotion will be the first to get hack. you can try retrieve it from your backup.

Forumotion is a bit hard nut to crack, if you are a script kiddie...

Plus - a lot of people stand behind ForuMotion company, i bet they have got plenty of skills to prevent that & revenge...

the hackers holds a grudge on him we know who one of them is he said his name out on the CB i think its a new hacker and an experienced hacker

Get rid of them FIRST~!
Make sure they are not on the forum anymore THEN change the address to your forum. Send out a NEWSLETTER to your members you know you can trust on the new address of your forum.

What this will do is when they go to log into your forum, it will show your forum does not exist anymore. When in fact it does, just under a new address...

I did that and it works...

Make sure you have all your members set to recieve newsletters.

The best way to stop a hacker is prevention
-Create a STRONG new password
EX: Iam#U63rM4N \?~ (that is an extremely hard password to guess, however they can get harder)

Admin panel AUTHENTICATION RE-AUTHENTICATION
Admin panel >> General (tab) >> security >> Confirm password to administration access :

Also, to ensure NOONE else changes ur password
