Private Forum

I want to make my forum Private, so that no-one can view the pages, except for me and 6 of my colleagues.

Ideally i'd like to set up a global password which is required to fill in when registering as a new user

Is this possible?

well don't know about the global password but you can make it private first you all 7 friends register on the site and then don't allow any one to register any more byu goingto acp and then to Users and Groups ----->User options
and select no to Allow new members

when you are done with this only allow members to view the forum by going to ACP -->General---->Categories and forums ----->and then select permission to only registered users not other else in every forum

but portal is viewable to everyone you cannot change it so disable the portal and you are done

don't select no to allow new members, do this:

Admin Panel -> Users & Groups -> User Options -> New Accounts Activation -> Select Admin

then you can activate them by the e-mail you receive
