Domain name purchase

Hi guys i have a forum called southcoastcougars.com , its starting to take off nicely now so im happy , ive paid for the domain name from here but i wanted to know is it possible to buy the name on a permanent basis so no one else can buy this name in the future LOL sounds daft i suppose but i just wondered were i stood with this and if i can were would i go for it .

I'm quiet fond with this question, however, I'm not the guy to ask. Plus, asking here would be better.
