Setting Topic Number/Page Limit

Hi guys, i hope someone can help me.

I have one forum, and have set my topics per page number to 40 which is fine, but I can't see anywhere where I can set the actual number of pages.

Currently I have 6 pages with 40 topics in each, and I don't want the number of topics to continue on and into an 7th page, so at the moment I am having to (slowly) delete topics that are 'overflowing' into the 7th page.

Can anyone tell me how how to set a topic/page limit please?

There is a # of posts limit of 990, so if you set 6 pages it is 990/6 topics per page.

I don't understand what you mean, so was hoping you coudl clarify...All I want to do is set my number of topics per page to 40 which I have already done, but for the number of pages not to exceed 7 pages.

How do I do this?

Ie: the number of topic pages not to exceed 7 - A maximum of 7 pages with 40 topics in each page. Anything more than that, and they databse will delete them...

Is this possible?

If you have set it to t 40, its well n good. however if you want that it should not exceed 7 pages then its like you want that forum to be closed. Its not possible to limit the # of pages.

right, so what's the limit on topics?

Does this mean that the number of pages will go on and on and on and on and on? There must be a way to set topic limits of some kind otherwise the forum page count will go through the roof

ACP=>General Tab=>Messages and Emails=>Configuration=>Messages=>Post per page=>Enter a number=>Save

Master Marc, thank you for repling also, but if you read my above post, I can, and have set my posts per page to 40 which is fine.

What I want to do is limit the number of pages to 8 as the users of my forum post during work hours only from Monday to Friday, so never bother scrolling through more than the first few pages as anything past pages 5 and onwards is old news so to speak. Do you see what I mean?

I want to limit the number of pages, to save me deleting old topics and posts.

There must be a way to do this?
