Google meta tag problem

I'm not sure this is the correct section, so feel free to move it:)

I have recently setup my forum and am trying to get verified with google. I did the google link from "Display" > Homepage > Generalities and thats ok. Google bot comes on and i started moving up the search:) However, since yesterday my forum has gone from top of the second google page to beyond page 20 !!! Google bot is still showing as visiting though?

I have tried to put that flippin meta tag from Google webmasters but it doesn't matter where i put it, i still cant get verified? I dont understand the html thingy so haven't done that;)

Any ideas would be appreciated. And I'm not highly talented pc wise
