Complications of restoring Empty Complications of restoring

Post by cold. July 29th 2009, 1:55 pm

I know how to restore a forum back to a certain date, but I was wondering if I restored back to late june this year, would I lose all posts from then to now? If so, is there any way I can protect these posts from deletion when the restore is in process?

Thank you,
-Cold, administrator of TheChillOut forums.

Yup, You can. I'm not the smartest with the backup system.

I might go test it on a old forum, maybe...

Hmm, I tried it on a test forum I use for theming, and it seemed to work and keep the posts. I would still appreciate any extra confirmation of it, though.

I think it would depend on what sort of restore you are doing. If you do a *full* restore, you'd maybe lose everything.

Forumotion did go into a problem with four of their servers that lost infomation that can't be returned.

You wouldn't be able to go back to June as we are in July and only haves about 4 or 5 restore points.

So do I need to wait until Christmas or sometime after until I can restore them?
