hi how do i add things to my Navigation not on the top of forum the one one the side i just want to add more to it can it be done

Make a new widget and just:
1. Type in the name of the link eg.Portal
2. Hyperlink that.

if i do that with the widget i will not appear in the navigation bar! where i want it to go

Sorry, but you come from England, hence your main language (most cases) is English. Could you please fix that as I am trouble trying to understand that.

A widget can be placed on the side of the forum and portal. Just make one (like said) and drag it from your personal widgets to the side of the forum (obviously in the forum widgets editing section).
