Holiday vs. Closing forum opinions?

Okay so Another person created a forum for a game we play, international game, hence communication and strategy via the forum.

It has been handed down to me, and though im still good friends with this person, i need to shut it down, as the game is comming to an end and a merger is being done and the other alliance has thier own forum already, i dont want any users to be able to read or register or anything on this forum. but i would like to, in a year or so, use it again when another server of the game has started.

So i was wondering what would be the best thing to do?

Putting the forum on holiday or closing it down?

what will need to be done with either of them?

what do you mean? your forum is inactive for a year or so?

I mean, the forum will be inactive for a year or so.

then activate the forum under construction

admin panel>general>configuration>scroll down until you find forum under construction>switch to yes>save

will it be 'under construction' until i change that setting back to 'no'?

and

will my admin members still be able to get in and change what ever needs to, its only me and one other person?

Construction mode is only for a period of 24 hours.
you have to put it in holiday mode and then it will be closed until you reopen it.
