Spam/Flood Attack

Hello,

well I logged on my Forum today and I realized that a "guy" made an Account and spam'd ALL of my Sections with a Topic called "MBBS In Ukraine". I banned his account.

I could just delete all of his posts, one by one. This would take some hour, but it can be done.. Its NOT so cool though. (:

For any harder situations (like more accounts and more spam messages), is there any way to delete Posts which were posted by a specific email/account? Like ban the member, and send his messages with him to hell. (:

If there would be any way, I'd be glad to know. Thank you in advance "Forum of the Forums"-folks.

So, when someone with his friends wanna ruin your forums they simply create 5-6 accounts and they start to post nonsense spam messages twice on every Topic of every Section.

This is sad.. there SHOULD be a way to deal with flood/spam. We are talking about a place where people "write" whatever they want.

Welcome to the wonderful world of running forums.Unfortunately this is just a part that comes with running them.All you can do is ban them and continue to do so for who ever returns and dose it. be sure to set you flood control to help slow them down.
And get more moderators.You should see all the spamming we have to deal with here.

Also on forums i always have a board where people can promote what the want or spam on that board what ever they want to.(AS Long as it's nothing in violation)then they can spam what ever they want to.I also allow members to place thing that they would normally spam in there Sig's.So now everytime they post members can see whats in there Sig's.. but not if there just posting spam everywhere.

Now of course this dose not prevent everyone from doing it. if people are going to do it they are going to do it.

You can also just have a few boards open for new members to post.when they have a certain amount of post in. then you can add them to a group to allow them more privileges in certain sections.

So there are ways you can help slow them down but Unfortunately you can never completely rid the morons. Just beware of the porn spammers god forbid. if you come across people that are doing that. be sure to close your place and clean everthing out.

The key is to have as many moderators that you know and are dedicated to help maintain the your forum.Other then that you always have to check in and see whats going on.

There will be a few new options in the new updates to help prevent the spammers a lil better very soon. i believe there are 24 new updates coming including some new security features too.

so thats a couple suggestions. yes it can be a pain but it's all part of the game.
Your either cut out for running forums or not..I have been doing it for years and yes sometimes these things can really tick you off.

I'm looking forward to see your updates. Even without them, I guess just because I love being Moderator, and I love keeping the order I will deal with them the classic way as well.. like you do.

Keep up the good work. It may be harsh sometimes, but people and I.. know that your boards are the Forums of the Forums, literally.
