Information regarding free credits please.
EDITED: I have found all the answers I needed the FAQ
The only question I still have not found an answer to is why we have no credits.

You said why we don't have credits on our forum when we first started it,Kalliopi wrote:The only question I still have not found an answer to is why we have no credits.
It's because you have to buy them,
Then, you can purchase a domain name, ect using them...
Also, if your forum is really active, then you'll have a message in your domain name search panel saying forumotion offers you a free domain name.
That's the only time you can gain a free domain name without using forumotion credits.

Thanks Master Marc but I am still a little confused, it is easily done
I got the opinion from other threads, like this one, just trying to understand.
Are points & credits the same thing?
Don't think I did, I wouldn't expect that. You said why we don't have credits on our forum when we first started it,

Surely this doesn't happen randomly there must be some sort of system of working it out, ie points or credits. Also, if your forum is really active, then you'll have a message in your domain name search panel saying forumotion offers you a free domain name.

Re: Information regarding free credits please.
What determines it is the activity, forum in general. Posts and User count.
The Point and Credits are different things. You use credits to BUY upgrades for your forum. Points have an all together different purpose and can be disabled. Credits, however, cannot.

Juani.
We have disabled our points system, anyway now I understand. (I think!)
Am I right in thinking it's the points that the members accrue (if it is enabled) that count?
Don't think I am desperate for a free domain name because I aren't, just curious to find out how it all works.

Re: Information regarding free credits please.
The way I see it, points is a system that encourages forum activity either by competition (I want to have more points than he does, therefore, I must post more) or by raffles. The user with the most points, the one that has contributed the most to the forum, gets a special prize. Or for example: 1000 Points equals 1 dollar. If a user has 8000 points, he can request for the admins, at the end of the year (or whatever) to buy him a game that costs 8 dollars. So, points is a system through which users, by contributing to the forums by posting, have the possibility to be rewarded with something. What that something is is up to you.
I, for one, have the points system enabled. I have disabled it in certain specific forums, such as the "Spam Box". Posts that are done here are hardly providing useful insight or interesting comments. I have an extra copy of HL2ep1. I am thinking at the end of the year make a raffle. I will check who is the user that contributed the most, that has the most points and crosschecking it with some other info, I will send him the copy as a gift.
Now, there`s now way points will give you credits or the other way around.
